Many of you have been asking how you can best love and serve your community at this time. In addition to helping those in your immediate circles (friends, family, neighbors, church family, etc) we recommend partnering with the following local ministries and organizations. Each of these organizations are leading the way in coordinating efforts to care for those currently in the greatest need – children, the poor, the homeless, and other vulnerable populations.
Note: These are the best ways to support these ministries and organizations at this time. These needs may change in the coming weeks and months. If you are unsure what to do, call up one of these organizations and ask them directly what their immediate needs may be.
First Responders & Medical Professionals – please make time each day to specifically pray for first responders and medical professionals and their families. Many of these tireless servants are on the front lines of the battle with the Coronavirus.
- Send “Thank You/Praying For You” letters and cards to Winter Haven Hospital (200 Avenue F NE Winter Haven, FL 33881).
- Choose another hospital or first responder station near to your home and reach out to them with a prayer and a ‘Thank You’.
Faith Extreme – ministers to kids in the midst of an at-risk community. Many of these kids rely on food provided from their schools. You can support them by giving or volunteering. Contact them at email@example.com or 863.875.9222.
Youth For Christ of Polk County – reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other likeminded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus. You can support them by donating here.
The Mission – serves families and individuals in need in our community. Their current needs are kid-friendly foods. You can also make a meal (casseroles, soups, and sandwiches) at home and drop it off anytime between 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday and Fridays from 8:30am-1:30pm.
Family Emergency Services – a non-profit agency providing food, prescriptions, rent, utilities, and holiday assistance to indigent families in the Greater Winter Haven area. They also provide temporary housing for women and a meals for people in need.
We are actively assessing other needs as we are made aware. This page will be updated with additional opportunities. Please check back often.
